PM Lee meets Belgium princess to discuss global developments

SINGAPORE - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong welcomed Princess Astrid of Belgium and her delegation during her official visit to Singapore.

The Belgium princess was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs Didier Reynders, Minister-President of Flanders Geert Bourgeois, Vice-President and Minister of Economy for Wallonia Jean-Claude Marcourt, Federal Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Pieter de Crem and Secretary of State for Foreign Trade and Investment for the Brussels-Capital Region Cecile Jodogne.

During the meeting, PM Lee and the Belgian leaders discussed how their both nations could explore further areas of cooperation for mutual benefit. The leaders also talked about global developments in Asia and Europe and shared their views on the rise of religious extremism.

As part of the official visit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam met Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs Didier Reynders to exchange views on international financial issues.
