SINGAPORE should maintain the community spirit that was present in kampungs, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said at a book launch on Sunday.
The book, A Village Remembered: Kampong Radin Mas 1800s To 1973, "captures the history of one of our oldest kampongs, and the stories of its residents", PM Lee said in a Facebook post later.
"Even today, when we are in... much bigger towns, not a few hundred people, but hundred thousand people perhaps - it's still necessary for us to maintain that strong community spirit for us to do well," Channel NewsAsia quoted him as saying.
