Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong was speaking at the opening of the World Cities Summit, Singapore International Water Week and CleanEnviro Summit at Marina Bay Sands on Sunday.

He noted in his speech that urbanisation was proceeding at unprecedented scale. He mentioned that more than 100 million people - 20 times to population of Singapore - have moved to cities in the past two years, and by 2050, 70 per cent of global population will live in cities.

He also shared examples of how Singaporeans are working together to build a more liveable and sustainable Singapore, such as calling for public suggestions to preserve nature in Pulau Ubin through the Ubin Project, and reviewing the Sustainable Singapore Blueprint.
