PM thanks home team officers involved in dealing with Little India riot

SINGAPORE - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong meeting Home Team officers who were involved in dealing with the Dec 8 Little India riot.

Over breakfast on Tuesday at the Rochor Neighbourhood Police Centre, some recounted how they shielded a bus driver and his assistant and ushered them to safety during the melee. Others spoke of how they managed to get out of an ambulance before rioters set fire to it.

The 38 men and women were from the Police Special Operations Command, Traffic Police, Tanglin and Central police divisions, police dog unit, as well as the Singapore Civil Defence Force. Mr Lee was accompanied by his wife Ho Ching and Second Minister for Home Affairs S. Iswaran.
