Police arrest 38-year-old man for obscene acts

SINGAPORE - A 38-year-old man who is believed to have committed obscene acts in the public, has been arrested by the police on July 7.

The police said that they received a call from a female victim at 10.48 pm on June 26, alerting them to a male suspect who was performing obscene acts in the vicinity of Jurong East Street 21.

The suspect fled before the police's arrival.

A similar case was reported in May at the same location. The suspect fled on a bicycle then.

An operation was subsequently conducted, and the man was caught. He is believed to be responsible for three other reported cases at the vicinity.

The suspect will be charged in Court on July 9. Anyone who does any Obscene Act in any Public Place, is punishable under Section 294(a) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, and may be imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 months, or with fine, or with both.
