Police arrest man for lodging false report

Financial hardship cannot be an excuse to commit crime, said District Judge Eddy Tham on Monday when sentencing Ricky Foo Kee Kiong, 31, to five months in jail and a $30,000 fine.

SINGAPORE - A man who lodged a false police report has been arrested by the police.

On Sept 5, the man called '999' reporting that he had been robbed of $2,000 by two men wielding a parang in the vicinity of Sims Drive.

The man will be charged in court on Oct 31.

He faces a maximum jail term of three years, a maximum fine of S$10,000 or both.
