Police arrest teen, 19, for robbing moneychanger of $218,000

A 19-year-old teenager has been arrested for robbing a moneychanger of $218,000.

He was among four male suspects who are believed to have assaulted and robbed a courier on August 2 last year at Woodlands Ave 5. They fled on two motorcycles.

The teen suspect was nabbed at Woodlands Checkpoint last night at 10.15pm after intensive investigations.

He will be charged in court tomorrow for robbery with hurt. a court order will be sought to remand the suspect for further investigations.

If found guilty, he can be jailed between five and 20 years, and caned up to 12 strokes.

Commander of Jurong Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Wilson Lim warned that the police will spare no effort to track down the perpetrators of such crimes and bring them to justice.
