Police raid Sim Lim Square's Mobile Air

SINGAPORE - Plainclothes police officers raided and left Sim Lim Square shop Mobile Air with 4 large boxes of documents and products on Sunday, Shin Min Daily News reported.

The Chinese evening daily said that 8 officers were in the shop for more than 2 hours.

Mobile Air and its owner Mr Jover Chew have made headlines in recent weeks following reports of negative customer experiences.

In one, a Vietnamese tourist was left begging tearfully on his knees for a refund after buying an iPhone 6 from the shop. This was less than a week after reports about a customer receiving a $1,010 refund in coins surfaced on mainstream media.

The police said in a statement today that investigations against Mobile Air are ongoing.

The shop was closed for a little more than a week before reopening last Friday, apparently with a new owner who identified himself as Mr Ricky Lee.

The 33-year-old told The Straits Times when it went down that day that he had bought over the business, and that he will be operating it under another name, HJ Mobile.

Lianhe Wanbao said Mr Lee was there on Sunday when the shop was being raided.

He told the paper: "The police are investigating Mobile Air. It has nothing to do with me."
