Police to use new warrant cards from March 1

SINGAPORE - With effect from March 1 this year, all police officers will be issued a new warrant card.

According to a Singapore Police Force (SPF) statement, the new cards have enhanced security features to prevent identity fraud by impersonation as police officers.

When the card is tilted at an angle, the holographic word "police" will appear below the officer's photograph. On the right side of the card, there will be a vertical row of five holographic police crests.

The new warrant cards will replace the existing warrant cards held by all regular, volunteer, full-time National Service police officers, operationally ready police National Servicemen as well as auxiliary police officers.

The SPF advises the public to look out for these security features on the warrant card if approached by anyone claiming to be a police officer or call "999" for assistance.
