Power fault causes delay on North-East Line in morning rush hour

SINGAPORE - A power fault caused a delay in train services along the North-East Line (NEL) this morning.

SBS Transit, which operates the line, first warned commuters at 7.50am to expect an additional travelling time of about 15 minutes.

It said in another update at 8.03am said that services between Farrer Park and Hougang stations had stopped, adding minutes later that free bus rides were being provided.

Full train services along the NEL resumed at about 8.30am, according to tweets by SBS Transit. But the rail operator said that delays in travelling time were still expected as the affected stations were still crowded.

Affected commuters have taken to social media to post photos of what they called a "blackout" at Hougang, Kovan, Serangoon, and Woodleigh MRT stations.
