President Tan pays tribute to Tang I-Fang

SINGAPORE - President Tony Tan Keng Yam paid tribute to the late Mr Tang I-Fang on Saturday, saying he was a pioneer who had made significant contributions to Singapore's early years of development.

Mr Tang did so as chairman of the Economic Development Board and later, the JTC, said President Tan.

Beyond the public sector, Mr Tang also contributed to the development of Singapore's business sector by managing and serving on the boards of several major Singapore companies, he added.

"His contributions, leadership and foresight will be missed by many in the public and private sectors," said Dr Tan in a Facebook post, extending his condolences to Mr Tang's wife, Dolly, and family.

Mr Tang, who was born in China and later became a Singapore citizen, died last Thursday at the age of 89.
