President Tony Tan meets Jason Chee, Aishah Samad and Nick Vujicic

SINGAPORE - President Tony Tan Keng Yam met with Jason Chee, Aishah Samad and Nick Vujicic at the Istana on Saturday and commended them for their resilience and positive outlook in overcoming difficulties and being an inspiration to others.

In a Facebook post, President Tan said: "I met with Jason Chee, Aishah Samad and Nick Vujicic this morning at the Istana. In spite their physical limitations, they chose to focus on what they can do instead of what they cannot do. I was deeply touched by their resilience, enthusiasm for life, and passion in pursuing their dreams and in helping others."

Mr Chee was involved in an accident in Dec 2012 that severed both his legs and his left arm.

Mr Vujicic, a motivational speaker, was born without limbs.

Ms Samad, a 2003 SEA Games shooting bronze medallist, suffered from a severe bacterial infection which eventually left to the amputation of her arms and legs.
