Project aims to digitise 50 years of S'porean Tamil creative writing

The Tamil Digital Heritage Group, with several partners, aims to digitally record 50 years of Singaporean Tamil creative writing by 2015.

The project is to preserve Tamil literary works and the group will work with the National Library Board (NLB), National Heritage Board, National Art Council, National Book Development Council of Singapore, as well as Tamil authors and community organisations.

More than 50 authors have already volunteered their works for digitisation.

Mr S. Iswaran, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, said at its launch yesterday: "I urge all those who are highly competent in Tamil language... to come forward to help the project group."

Once the project is completed, the archives can be accessed through NLB.
