SINGAPORE - The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) will soon acquire a new surface-to-air missile system called the Aster-30, said Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen on Monday in Parliament.
The new system will allow the RSAF to engage multiple threats simultaneously and from a longer distance, he said.
He was responding to a question by Nee Soon GRC MP Lim Wee Kiak on whether Singapore's security needs will be compromised with plans to relocate Paya Lebar Airbase.
Dr Ng said the prime consideration had been that the security and sovereignty of the country must never be compromised.
