RSAF to perform special aerial flypast on NDP as tribute to Mr Lee

SINGAPORE - The Republic of Singapore Air Force's Black Knights will perform a special aerial flypast this National Day Parade as a tribute to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, said Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen on May 7.

Mr Ng said in a Facebook post that the Black Knights will "line up as 5 stars watching over this nation he founded; representing the ideals that Mr Lee spent his life pushing for - democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality."

He added: "It will be a fitting tribute to Mr Lee, for all of us to look up and beyond and remember his wish to keep Singapore going."

RSAF also announced the tribute on their Facebook page, with a picture of the flight formation enclosing the black-and-white ribbon of Mr Lee.

The Black Knights had previously attempted to perform a "Missing Man" formation during Mr Lee's funeral procession on March 29, but bad weather had hampered their plans.
