Second home-alone child falls but survives

Two days after a seven-year-old boy fell to his death after being left alone at home, a six-year-old girl plunged six storeys from a unit in Yishun - and survived.

Neighbours found her lying conscious but in pain on a grass patch at Block 459, Yishun Avenue 11, on Saturday evening, The New Paper reported.

Her parents were not home at the time and realised she had fallen only when they returned to the block with their shopping. They were told by a neighbour that a young girl had fallen.

Police were alerted at 7.42pm and the girl was taken to KK Women's and Children's Hospital in an ambulance, said a spokesman for the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

The girl, believed to be an only child, is in stable condition, according to The New Paper.

Neighbours who rushed to help her after she fell said the pyjama-clad girl was holding a small pillow and a stuffed toy in her arms.

The girl, who was sobbing and groaning, told them she lived on the sixth floor.

Last Thursday afternoon, seven-year-old Bruce Chan was found dead at the foot of his block of flats in Aljunied Crescent. He was cremated on Sunday.
