Seven arrested for rioting along Choa Chu Kang Road

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested seven male suspects aged between 19 and 21, who are believed to be involved in a case of rioting along Choa Chu Kang Road.

On April 22, at about 2.43pm, a 21-year-old male victim lodged a report stating that he was assaulted along Choa Chu Kang Road.

Investigations revealed that the victim was assaulted by a group of unknown people after a dispute, believed to have arisen from a minor incident that took place on board a public bus.

Officers from Jurong Police Division established the identities of the suspects and arrested seven male suspects on April 22, at about 11.40pm.

Investigation against two of the subjects is still ongoing while the other five suspects will be charged in court on April 25 for the offence of rioting.

If convicted, they face prison terms of up to seven years and shall also be liable to caning.
