She was smiling all day after $4,000 win

SINGAPORE - She has been a loyal reader of The New Paper since it was first published in 1988. And it certainly paid off on Wednesday.

Madam Sim Suan Heng, 64, won $4,000 and an Xbox Kinect in the TNP Bonus Challenge.

Her daughter, Madam Geraldine Leow, told TNP her mother was extremely surprised by the win.

"She likes to take part in contests but I think this is one of her biggest wins," said the 36-year-old manager of a research company.

Gifts for grandkids

Madam Leow said her mother intends to treat her family to a meal and buy gifts for her three grandchildren aged three, six and eight years old.

Madam Sim had bought a copy of The New Paper from a Cheers shop near her three-room flat in Ang Mo Kio - which she shares with her retiree husband, Mr Leow Chay Chua, 64, - while sending her grandson to a child care centre.

Said Madam Leow: "On Wednesday morning, she checked the results in TNP and she couldn't believed she won. She even asked my eight-year-daughter to double check for her. When she realised that she had the winning numbers on her card, she was so stunned that she didn't know how to react."

Madam Sim then got her granddaughter to call Madam Leow to inform her of the good fortune.

"It's a good win, my mother was smiling all day," said Madam Leow.

Madam Sim was not the only winner on Wednesday. Retiree Sim Chin Koon, 59, also walked away with an Xbox Kinect.

To take part in the contest, pick up a TNP Bonus Challenge Card with every Monday's edition of The New Paper.

Check the numbers on the card against the six numbers published each day from Tuesday to Sunday.

If you match a vertical column of numbers, go to the collection centre at Level 2 of the *Scape mall atrium with the newspaper clippings of the numbers and your Challenge Card. There, verbally answer the question found at the bottom of the vertical column.
