Singapore ministers share CNY activities on social media

SINGAPORE - While you and I were off visiting relatives over the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday, what did our ministers get up to?

Burning off the excess calories accumulated from all the Chinese New Year feasting seemed to be a priority for Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen.

Sharing his weakness for "wonderful-tasting tarts, cookies and other goodies" on Facebook, Mr Ng shared pictures of his morning walk at the Southern Ridges on Wednesday (Feb 10).

"Took a walk from Hort Park on the Forest Walk to the Henderson Wave - I think I burnt only a couple of pineapple tarts, sigh - but the view was great," Mr Ng wrote.

Mr Ng was not alone in his quest to keep fit post-CNY.

Opting for an urban running trail along the Marina Reservoir, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Grace Fu was photographed on the second day of CNY (Feb 9) jogging past the National Stadium and the Singapore Flyer with members of her constituency's running club.

Earlier, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong kickstarted his CNY holiday by visiting Changi Airport on Feb 8.

Accompanied by his wife Ho Ching, NTUC secretary-general Chan Chun Sing, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Transport Josephine Teo and other union leaders, Mr Lee thanked the airport staff who were working on a public holiday with red packets and mandarin oranges.

"This ‪#‎CNY‬, as we enjoy the festive season, let's not forget the many who continue to work hard behind-the-scenes for Singapore and Singaporeans," he wrote on Facebook.
