Singapore Mint launches merlion gold ingot

SINGAPORE - In celebration of Singapore's 48th birthday, The Singapore Mint has launched the PAMP Merlion 1gm 999.9 Gold Ingot today.

Measuring 8.9 millimetres (width) by 14.7 millimetres (height) and weighing only one gram, each ingot is made in superior quality Gold 999.9. They are produced and issued by PAMP (Produits Artistiques Metaux Precieux), and the first 1,000 pieces bearing the serial numbers B000001 to B001000 is launched globally and exclusively by The Singapore Mint.

The valued collectible bears the country's most notable icon, the Singapore Merlion.

Approved by the Singapore Tourism Board, the new design represents the country's humble and proud origins as a growing nation. The treasured icon also highlights the uniqueness of Singapore's history - the same cultural heritage that appeals to so many avid collectors and gold investors from all around the world. It is the latest and fourth design to be used by PAMP for its worldwide selection of gold ingots.

The first 1,000 pieces are available at The Singapore Mint in August only. Also, the PAMP Merlion Gold is free from taxes as part of the government's policy for Investment Precious Metals from Oct 2012.

These Gold Ingot pieces are currently available for purchase at The Singapore Mint retail outlets and official website at an introductory price of $128.00 throughout the month of August only (usual retail price of S$138.00 applies from September 2013).
