SMRT Taxis drivers to get $2.5m worth of incentives

SINGAPORE - Drivers with SMRT Taxis will receive a slew of incentives worth around $2.5 million in total, the company said in a statement today.

The incentives include Medisave top-ups of between $25 and $50, fuel and road tax rebates, and a reward of between $180 and $1,000 in cash for those who have been in the company for more than six years.

Special SG50 goodie bags containing fuel vouchers were also distributed to drivers at the SMRT Corporation Sports and Recreation Centre today.

SMRT Taxis' general manager Tony Heng said it is timely for the company to recognise the contributions of its staff with the National Day long weekend coming, as many of them will be on the roads.

He added: "We have restructured our incentives and benefits schemes to reward our taxi partners for service excellence, recognise loyalty, and help them cope with operating costs. We are happy that the National Taxi Association has supported our continuous efforts in improving the welfare of our taxi partners."
