SPCA raising funds for new premises hosting larger animal shelter

SINGAPORE - Volunteers from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) will be collecting donations island-wide on Saturday, May 16 from 9am to 5pm.

Proceeds raised from their annual flag day will go towards building SPCA's new premises at Sungei Tengah, which will be about twice the size of the existing site at Mount Vernon Road. The new site will also host a larger animal shelter and dedicated spaces for public interaction and education, in addition to its existing services.

The new building costing approximately seven million dollars, is envisioned as an all-purpose complex with an expanded clinic and more space for dogs to exercise.

"We do not receive any government grant, so raising the funds is a big task," Ms. Corinne Fong, Executive Director of SPCA said.

"But we have a generous and giving, local community so we look forward to their support in this project to help us achieve our goal."
