Singapore, 24 November 2014 - SPH Magazines Pte Ltd (SPH Magazines) has once again proven to be the undisputed Publisher of Choice amongst advertisers and readers, as results from a survey by trade magazine Marketing and figures from the latest Nielsen Singapore Media Index on media consumption habits showed.

Magazine of the Year survey by Marketing Magazine

With its publications ranked top in major categories in this year's Magazine of the Year survey by trade magazine Marketing, SPH Magazines is once again the clear favourite of advertisers and marketers reaching out to their target audience.

The survey found that more advertisers chose SPH Magazines' publications to reach out to different target audiences in various categories, from Women's Magazines, Women's Fashion Magazines, Men's Magazines, Motor Vehicle Magazines, Parenting Magazines, Consumer Electronics Magazines, In-flight Magazines, Chinese Magazines, Luxury Magazines, Travel Magazines to Local Business Magazines.

SPH Magazines' titles came out tops in seven categories. In particular, SPH Magazines dominated the women's market with Singapore's number one women's magazine Her World, CLEO and The Singapore Women's Weekly ranked top three of the Women's Magazine of the Year category; while Female and Harper's Bazaar took first and second placing respectively in the Women's Fashion Magazine of the Year category.

SPH Magazines' custom title for Singapore Airlines, SilverKris, won in the In-flight Magazine of the Year category, while Business Quotient (BizQ), published for Singapore Business Federation, was ranked second in the Local Business Magazine of the Year category.

Other titles that won the top place in their respective categories were Men's Health for Men's Magazine of the Year, Torque for Motor Vehicle Magazine of the Year, Young Parents for Parenting Magazine of the Year, and HardwareMAG (HWM) for Consumer Electronics Magazine of the Year.

ICON and Nuyou, both published by SPH Magazines, took second and third placing in the Chinese Magazine of the Year category respectively, while The Peak was ranked second in the Luxury Magazine of the Year category.

More than 700 respondents participated in the survey. Nearly 87 per cent of client-advertiser respondents were manager-level decision makers and above with 10 per cent from the most senior ranks. Advertisers from major banks, FMCG companies, property and construction, IT and telecommunications firms, as well as travel and tourism companies participated in the survey. Agency professionals across the marketing services spectrum were also well represented.

Over the years, we have strived to improve on the content of our print titles while continuously investing resources to make our titles accessible on digital media platforms. Besides online sites such as the popular herworldPLUS.com, we now have 70 titles on tablets and iPads in the region."

"In addition, our innovative signature events such as the Men's Health Urbanathlon and Shape Run have grown in scale and popularity. I believe advertisers recognise and appreciate the comprehensive marketing solutions that SPH Magazines is able to provide them with, no matter how diverse their needs are," added Mr Loh.

In other results, The SME Magazine was voted third in the Local Business Magazine of the Year category. The SME Magazine is published by The Business Times, the business and financial daily of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH).

Nielsen Media Index 2014

Besides being the preferred choice of advertisers, the Nielsen Media Index 2014 topline results released earlier this month also showed the popularity of SPH Magazines' titles among consumers in Singapore, with its publications ranked the top five among monthly women's magazines.

Her World continued its reign as the most popular monthly women's magazine with a readership of 169,000, followed by Female (100,000), The Singapore Women's Weekly (87,000), CLEO (69,000) and Simply Her (52,000). Other titles such as Nuyou, Shape, Cosmopolitan and Harper's Bazaar also did well.

SPH Magazines also performed well in other consumer segments, with Men's Health, Home and Decor and Young Parentscontinuing to be the magazines with the highest readership in Singapore in their respective categories.

Said Mr Loh: "The Nielsen Singapore Media Index has shown that our titles are still the most popular with readers. The results affirms the decision by advertisers to choose SPH Magazines to achieve their marketing goals."

The Nielsen Singapore Media Index Report was conducted between July 2013 and June 2014. A total of 4,686 people from the Singapore population aged 15 and above were surveyed on their media consumption habits.
