The Singapore Army said on its Facebook page on Sunday that it was "regrettable that a Singaporean blogger has boasted about how he managed to dishonestly and blantantly get himself discharged from National Service" and that the "SAF is looking into this matter".

That post has gathered 254 comments as of 9.30pm on Sunday night and has been shared 455 times.

Some users pointed out that this comes after someone posted in the SAF confession Facebook page on Friday about how he got out of serving National Service by feigning mental illness for more than a year.

Other users have linked the person to another post in Facebook last year - perhaps of the same person. The post last year was picked up by citizen journalism website Stomp (see report here).

The Singapore Army said in its post that the person had "taken the care and consideration given to him by the SAF for granted" and that "his dishonesty undermines our system of managing servicemen who genuinely suffer from mental illness".
