Stamp of approval for Singapore's birthday

SINGAPORE - President Tony Tan Keng Yam receiving a miniature "Gift to the Nation" stamp collage from SingPost board member Keith Tay at The Fullerton Hotel on Mondy.

The original collage, measuring 1.6m by 1.2m and made up of more than 450 stamps, is a present to mark Singapore's 48th birthday.

People from all walks of life contributed the stamps, including a Straits Settlements stamp issued in the 1940s during the British Military Administration and a 1961 stamp with the words "State of Singapore".
