Step up efforts to restore broadband services: IDA

SINGAPORE - The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) said on Monday it noted that some customers affected by the fire that broke out in SingTel's Bukit Panjang exchange are still experiencing difficulty in getting broadband connections back.

It added that while Singtel is working with the operators to restore services on its fibre network, the operators should cooperate and step up their efforts urgently to ensure that the remaining affected customers get their connectivity immediately.

IDA said it is continuing to monitor the situation to ensure that all connections are restored.

The fire, which broke out last Wednesday, disrupted over 46,000 individual fibre connections, said OpenNet.

It also affected customers from M1, Starhub, DBS and POSB's banking branches and ATMs islandwide, as well as SG Pools and AXS services.

IDA notes that some affected customers are still experiencing difficulty in getting their broadband connections, and SingTel is working with the operators to restore services on its fibre network.

IDA has emphasised to the operators that they should cooperate and step up their efforts urgently to ensure that the remaining affected customers get their connectivity immediately.  IDA is continuing to monitor closely the situation to ensure that all connections are restored.
