Sultan of Brunei to make three-day state visit to Singapore

SINGAPORE - The Sultan of Brunei will be in Singapore for a state visit from April 21 to April 23, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement today.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and his wife Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha will receive a ceremonial welcome at the Istana. They will pay a courtesy call on and be hosted to a state banquet by President Tony Tan Keng Yam and First Lady Mrs Mary Tan.

During the visit, the Sultan will go for a morning walk with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Gardens by the Bay and meet former Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.

On April 22, the Brunei leader will deliver the 34th Singapore Lecture on 'The Future of ASEAN', which will be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean.

The Sultan will also visit the Institute of Technical Education College Central campus, the Singapore Armed Forces' Multi-Mission Range Complex and 3rd Division Headquarters, as well as the Singapore LNG Terminal on Jurong Island.
