SINGAPORE - The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has detonated a suspected war relic discovered at a construction site in the Sengkang West area on Friday (Jan 22).

In a post on The Singapore Army's Facebook page on Saturday morning, SAF said its Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was activated.

The relic was assessed to be a 105mm British projectile.

Working through the night, the EOD team subsequently disposed of the relic early Saturday morning.

The post also contained photos that showed the EOD team assessing the relic, sandbags used during the disposal and relic fragments.

It added: "Once again, thank you EOD team for being always ready to keep Singapore safe!"

The last time another war relic was found was on Dec 7 last year.

The 6-inch projectile, which was embedded in the ground near some concrete pillars at Senoko Drive, was disposed in a similar manner.

There were 11 incidences of the disposal of a war relic mentioned on The Singapore Army's Facebook page in 2015.
