Teen, 14, nabbed for snatching 75-year-old woman's purse

SINGAPORE - A 14-year-old youth has been arrested by police in relation to a case of snatch theft which occurred in West Coast Road.

The police said in a media statement that the 75-year-old woman was walking at the void deck area around 5.30pm on Dec 17 when the boy snatched her purse and fled.

She lodged a police report and officers from Clementi Police Division followed-up with investigations immediately.

The suspect was subsequently arrested on Dec 22 in Jurong West.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect was also involved in another snatch theft case.

He wil be charged in court on Dec 24 for the offence of snatch theft and can face a jail term of up to seven years and caning.
