Teenager admits molesting French tourist at Penang National Park

BALIK PULAU, Malaysia - An 18-year-old teenager pleaded guilty to molesting a French tourist at the Penang National Park in a magistrate's court here.

The teenager admitted to committing the offence between 1.10pm and 2pm on Feb 27.

The offence under Section 354 of the Penal Code for using criminal force with the intent to outrage modesty, carries a maximum 10-year jail sentence, a fine or whipping, or any two if convicted.

The teenager also pleaded guilty to an alternative charge of possessing a stolen motorcycle at the Jalan Tengah traffic light in Bayan Baru at 5.05pm on May 30, 2012.

The offence, under Section 411 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to five years and a fine.

He was initially charged with stealing the motorcycle in front of a car workshop in Jalan Teluk Kumbar, Bayan Lepas between 11am and 9.40pm on April 16, 2012, under Section 379A of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of not less than one year and not more than seven years, and a fine.

Nurakmal Farhan Aziz prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented.

Magistrate Muhammad Najib Ismail set bail at RM2,000 in one surety for each charge and fixed April 21 for mention pending social report on the accused.
