Teenager arrested for suspected snatch theft at Jurong Lake Park

SINGAPORE - The police have arrested a 17-year-old male suspect who is believed to be involved in a case of snatch theft committed at Jurong Lake Park.

On Jan 26, at about 5.56 pm, the 82-year-old female victim lodged a police report, saying that her handbag which contained her personal belongings and valuables was snatched away by an unknown man at Jurong Lake Park. He fled the scene, heading in the direction of Tah Ching Road.

The police conducted ground enquiries and arrested the suspect on Feb 2 after establishing his identity. The victim's mobile phone was also recovered from the suspect.

If convicted of snatch theft, the suspect faces a jail term of up to 7 years, and shall also be liable to caning.
