Tigerair flight from Singapore lands safely in Haikou with damaged tyre

Tigerair flight TR 2934, a regular scheduled flight from Singapore to China's Haikou, landed safely at its destination with a damaged tyre on Friday morning.

CCTV News reported that the plane's tyre was damaged during take-off in Singapore.

The Airbus A320, with 178 passengers on board, landed at Haikou Meilan International airport at about 11am.

The flight was delayed by about 20 minutes, according to online flight tracker FlightStats.

After receiving news of of the damaged tyre, the Chinese airport said that it quickly arranged for rescue crews and carried out an inspection of its runway for the flight's safe landing.

The president of Haikou Meilan International airport Yang Xiaobin added that the plane's worn-out tyre was replaced after checks were made and the aircraft returned to Singapore.
