Tipper truck lands on its side in PIE accident causing jam stretching kilometres

SINGAPORE- An accident along the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) towards Changi Airport, before the Kallang Way exit, brought traffic to a crawl on Wednesday afternoon and caused a jam stretching back to Adam Road.

The accident involved a car and a tipper truck, which landed on its left side and spilled its load of sand onto the road.

Police said they received a call about the accident at about 1.20pm.

They added that no injuries were reported and investigations are ongoing.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force dispatched one ambulance to the accident site. It said that two men were involved in the accident.

One was in his 30s and the other, in his 50s. Both declined to be taken to hospital.

Ms Tan Weiru, 36, who is self-employed, was travelling on the opposite side of the expressway, towards Ang Mo Kio.

She described the congestion as "quite bad".
