Toa Payoh 'curry powder' armed robbery suspect arrested

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 41-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery at Block 10 Lorong 7 Toa Payoh.

On Oct 30 at about 7.54pm, a 62-year-old woman reported to the police that she was assaulted and robbed of her handbag inside the lift. The suspect was armed with a knife and had thrown curry powder contained in a transparent container at the victim during the robbery. The container was recovered by the police at the scene.

After police investigations, the suspect was arrested on Nov 12. A container similar to the one recovered at the scene was seized.

If convicted, the suspect faces a jail term between five and 20 years. He also faces at least 12 strokes of the cane.
