Toddler survives 6-storey fall from flat

SINGAPORE - A three-year-old boy fell out of the kitchen window of his sixth-storey flat in Stirling Road yesterday. Luckily, the boy survived as he did not hit his head on the way down.

According to the report in Shin Min Daily News, the incident happened at Block 168 in Stirling Road last evening (April 28) at about 6pm.

The Chinese newspaper said that the boy is reportedly an Indonesian Chinese living in the unit with his parents and older sister.

According to witnesses, the boy's grandmother was seen downstairs, picking up a pair of pants that had been blown from the flat, shortly before the boy's fall. It is believed that the boy fell after climbing up the window to look for his grandmother.

The report said that the boy was conscious when the Singapore Civil Defence Force sent him to hospital.

The newspaper said that a reporter saw the grandmother and another relative when she visited the flat this morning. The grandmother was unwilling to be interviewed, and would only say that the boy is still in hospital.
