Two expatriate workers were found dead yesterday in separate locations, the Royal Brunei Police Force confirmed.
Police said they had yet to verify the nationalities of the deceased and determine the cause of their deaths.
The body of a 44-year-old man was found in a rented room in a commercial building in Tutong, police said in a statement.
Police said the discovery was reported at around 8:30am yesterday.
At 11:15am police were also alerted of the discovery of the body of a 26-year-old woman, at a commercial building in Kampung Kiulap.
A worker, who works in a nearby shop in the same building, said the deceased worked at Lily Cut Hair & Beauty Salon in Kiulap.
Viral messages that were spread through social media regarding the two incidents suggested that both the deceased were from the Philippines.
When contacted, the police said it could not confirm their nationalities as it is still investigating the deaths.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson from the Philippines Embassy told The Brunei Times that a worker from the salon in Kg Kiulap had been to the embassy yesterday to inform them of the incident but did not hear anything from Tutong.
The spokesperson also said that the embassy will join the police for the autopsy today, to verify the nationalities of the deceased.
