Two injured in Yishun Ring Road flat fire

SINGAPORE - Two people were injured in a flat fire at Blk 624 Yishun Ring Road on Wednesday (Dec 30) morning.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a statement that it was alerted to a case of fire and deployed a fire engine, two Red Rhinos, two fire bikes, two ambulances and two support vehicles to the scene.

SCDF firefighters forced open the main door of the affected unit and extinguished the fire that engulfed the living room.

They also rescued a man and woman from within the unit, and sent them to hospital to receive medical treatment for smoke inhalation and injuries.

SCDF added that approximately 10 residents had evacuated the scene before its personnels' arrival.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
