Two men arrested for loanshark harassment

The police have arrested two men for their alleged involvement in loanshark harassment cases.

Officers from the Clementi Division spotted the two of them, both aged 17, behaving suspiciously at Toh Guan Road at about 3.20am on Sep 6. They were found in possession of loanshark paraphernalia.

Both men are believed to have committed loanshark harassment in Bukit Panjang by splashing paint on debtors' units and scrawling loanshark-related graffiti on the walls of residential units.

They are also suspected to be involved in similar cases in Hougang, Ang Mo Kio and Bedok.

If found guilty, first time offenders could be fined up to $50,000 with a mandatory imprisonment term of up to 5 years as well as face up to 6 strokes of the cane.
