SINGAPORE - The owner of a small dog at Melosa Apartments in Geylang has been criticised by netizens for leaving the dog out on a balcony.

Video of the distressed dog pacing up and down the small balcony was uploaded online by Facebook user Kimberly Ho.

The footage has been viewed over 20,000 times and many netizens have expressed anger at the alleged mistreatment of the dog.

According to the Facebook user, the dog was still out on the balcony a week after the video was first taken.

"It also does not seem like the dog has a water bowl," Kimberly said in her post.

Kimberly added that a friend of hers had notified the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA). Her friend was assured that the owner of the dog had been contacted.

On Wednesday, Kimberly updated her post with a message saying that the dog is no longer on the balcony.

"Presumably the owner probably has either seen this post or someone has made contact with him/her," Kimberly said.

*Update*My friend happened to spot this dog caged up in the balcony of Melosa Apartments (back alley) at Geylang Lor 28. Apparently, she have contacted AVA and SPCA and replied that they have contacted the owner. Either AVA and SPCA are not telling the truth or the owner just don't care. It has been a week but the dog is still out in the balcony when she went back to check. It also does not seem like the dog has a water bowl. My heart goes out to this poor poodle...(14/10)My friend went back to check on the dog it is no longer outside though the cage is still in the balcony. Presumably the owner probably has either seen this post or someone has made contact with him/her. She couldn't see if the dog is in the house. Hopefully the dog is resting inside the house and not being abused further.
