Vietnamese deputy PM to visit S'pore as 48th Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellow

SINGAPORE - Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will visit Singapore as the 48th Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellow from May 10-13, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement today.

During his visit, Mr Phuc will call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, be hosted to a meal by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, and meet Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong.

Mr Phuc will also receive briefings by several Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Law, the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau, the Public Service Division, the Economic Development Board, and the Casino Regulatory Authority.

In addition, he will be visiting the Tanglin Community Club and the memorial exhibition for the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew at the National Museum of Singapore.

Eddie Teo, chairman of the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship (LKYEF), will host a welcome dinner for Mr Phuc.

Established in 1991, the LKYEF programme invites outstanding individuals for high-level visits to Singapore. The Exchange Fellows are chosen on the basis of their proven track records or extraordinary potential to contribute to the development of their nations, as well as promote international understanding and goodwill.

Mr Phuc is the fourth Exchange Fellow from Vietnam.
