Voting for new red or green buses opens today

SINGAPORE - Start the year with some colourful livery!

Commuters can now get to choose between red and green for the new buses under the new Bus Contracting Model, the Land Transport Authority announced in a Facebook post on Friday (Jan 8).

Buses will also be emblazoned with a new logo which features the word 'SG Bus', and an embedded heart.

According to LTA, the design will gradually extend to other buses as Government-owned buses replace existing operator-owned ones.

In the second half of 2016, Singapore's public bus industry will be managed under Anglo-Australian Tower Transit, which will kick off operations in the western part of the island. British firm Go-Ahead will start running bus services in the Pasir Ris and Punggol areas from the third quarter.

To help commuters visualize the new colour scheme, 10 red and 10 green buses will ply the roads during the voting period from Jan 8 to Feb 5.

The public can cast their votes via http://colouryourbuses.sg or SMS to 76677 in this format: LTA Vote Choice NRIC Name.

Fifty participants stand a chance to win a $50 shopping voucher in a lucky draw.
