Waiter jailed 27 months for underage sex

A part-time waiter was jailed for more than two years on Monday after he admitted having sex with two underage girls.

Ryan Nicholas Shah, 27, took advantage of the youngsters on separate occasions. One was a 14-year-old whom he took back to his Bedok flat in August 2011. The other was a drunken 15-year-old student he met at *Scape skate park in July 2012.

Jailing Shah for a total of 27 months, District Judge Lee Poh Choo said: "I have no doubt at all that he chose to take advantage of the young girls." Deputy Public Prosecutor Elizabeth Chua said the 15-year-old was with Shah's group drinking alcoholic cocktails at the skate park, and soon became inebriated.

Later that night, they went to urinate behind a wall before Shah asked her to perform sex acts on him. She obliged.

They were having sex when 24-year-old Muhammad Hairuniezam Marwi asked the girl to perform oral sex on him, which she agreed to, before returning to carry on with Shah. Hairuniezam was jailed for seven months on Feb 11.

The two men later took the girl home in a cab. Her mother found out what had happened and called the police.

Ms Chua said Shah came to know the other girl through a mutual friend in 2011 and they met regularly at *Scape, on Orchard Link.

Shah and the girl had oral sex at each other's homes on several occasions.

The court heard that Shah would tell the youngster from time to time that he "couldn't believe" he had taken her virginity.

She was later diagnosed with chronic post-traumatic stress disorder.

Tattooed Shah looked nonchalant throughout the hearing and was even seen smiling at times.

He could have been jailed for up to 10 years and/or fined on each charge.
