Watch live: DPM Heng Swee Keat announces third round of support measures in Solidarity Budget

For the first time in Singapore's history, a third round of support measures will be introduced to help workers, businesses and households tide over tough times.

Following Prime Lee Hsien Loong's announcement of a month-long 'circuit breaker' to stem Covid-19 cases on April 3, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat said that he will announce the Solidarity Budget during Parliament this afternoon (April 6).

"As we battle on, we are most grateful that earlier generations have saved up and built strong foundations for us. These strengths have given us the wherewithal to protect our people and their jobs," Heng, who is also Finance Minister, wrote in a Facebook post on April 5.

This marks the third round of support measures in less than two months — coming after the Unity Budget on 18 Feb and the Resilience Budget on 26 March.

The ramped-up measures, which include the closure of all schools and most workplaces, will start from April 7 and end on May 4.
