We must have every teacher be a caring educator: Education minister

SINGAPORE - Education minister Heng Swee Keat took to Facebook on Thursday to wish all teachers a happy Teachers' Day, ahead of the school holiday tomorrow.

In his post, he thanked teachers for their dedication, as well as parents and community partners who support teachers "to do the best for our children".

Here is the post made by Minister Heng Swee Keat on Facebook:

"It is Teachers’ Day tomorrow, and my warmest thoughts and admiration go to all the teachers who dedicate yourselves to bringing out the best in our children. It is a joy for me to come to work each day with so many talented and giving professionals – your work affects all of us more deeply than you can know.

You grow knowledge, instill beliefs, inculcate values, nurture passion, and in so doing you shape the future.

Every child who grows up confident and compassionate has been affected by a caring teacher in some way. To give every child a profound educational experience, we must have Every Teacher be a Caring Educator.

Thank you to all our teachers and school leaders. Our allied educators in counselling, teaching and learning support, as well as learning and behavioural support, contribute towards a learning environment that focuses on meeting students' learning and well-being needs in different ways.

Our executive and administrative staff add to the care and concern for our children. And MOE HQ benefits greatly from the wisdom and experience of the many dedicated educators who choose to work at HQ.

To all teachers working outside of MOE, we appreciate all that you do for your students and the community.

Thank you too to the parents and community partners who give our teachers the support to do the best for our children. Happy Teachers’ Day!"
