Wine and bytes at BT Luxe night

About 100 senior executives turned up at "The Business Times Luxe" event on Thursday evening to listen to what makes a fine wine and also taste some at the Fullerton Hotel.

Five winning wines from the inaugural "Business Times Wine Challenge 2013 - CEOs' Choice" were served. Also during the occasion, HP showcased its latest range of "Elite" series high-performance PCs.

International wine specialist Lim Hwee Peng spoke on what makes a fine wine and how to recognise one. A fine wine is always balanced though it can be intense or subtle, and it possesses complexity, finesse and longevity.

He explained the categorisation of grape varieties according to their natural character. Grapes come in thin or thick skin with different attributes. The soil and climatic conditions play a part.

Three Travelmade Gold Bags and two HP Elite Pads (each worth almost $1,000) were given away to five lucky guests at the event.

The five wines that guests experienced were Pierro Chardonnay 2011, Bodegas Alion 2008, Sette Ponti Oreno 2009, Silverado Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, and Chateau de la Font du Loup Chateauneuf du Pape 2010.
