Woman molested on NEL train, suspect nabbed

A man, 28, has been arrested following a case of outrage of modesty on a train on the North East Line.

The woman, 23, was on the train on Thursday at around 6pm when she felt someone touching her chest area.

She alighted at the next station and reported the incident to the staff, who detained the suspect and waited for the police to arrive.

The suspect was arrested. If found guilty, he will face up to two years' jail and caning.

Commander of Central Police Division, Deputy assistant Commissioner of Police (DaC) Daniel Tan, praised the station staff for acting quickly.

DaC Tan advised people to be alert to their surroundings when using public transport and also to move away if someone stands or sits exceptionally close to you.

He said to shout for help immediately if you are molested and seek help from passengers nearby.
