Woman, security guard charged with boy's murder in Penang

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Malaysia - The mother of five-year-old S. Kaviarasan whose body was recovered at an oil palm plantation here has been charged with his murder in a Sessions Court.

Also jointly charged here with T. Gayathry, 30, on Monday was her boyfriend, security guard R. Saravanan Kumar, 24.

The couple were charged with committing the offence by the roadside of Jalan Ladang Permatang Sera in Bukit Tengah between 8am on Sept 20 and 11.25am on Sept 29.

No plea was recorded from both the accused, who were not offered bail, as the offence under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder is a non-bailable offence.

The boy was said to have been accidentally killed by his mother at their house in Kulim before the body was dumped at an oil palm plantation in Bukit Tengah last month.

His body was recovered by the police seven days' after he was first reported missing.

It was reported that the mother had earlier lodged a police report in Kulim, claiming that the boy had gone missing near Esplanade on Sept 23.

Sessions judge Musyiri Peet fixed Dec 15 for mention.

DPP Lim Saw Sim prosecuted the case.
