SingTel goes on charm offensive with EPL fans

SINGAPORE - Singtel's mio TV is offering a deal-sweetener for the English Premier League (EPL) in the form of mio TV GO, a companion app that has launched on Wednesday.

Available on both Android and Apple devices, the app will give mio TV EPL viewers access to "live" streaming of EPL matches, as well as "live" UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and Italian Serie A matches, among various kinds of football content.

At the same time, SingTel Game On - a programme that provides commentary and updates on the EPL matches - will also be offered exclusively to mio TV subscribers in the app.

Non-football fans will also get to use the app to watch Asian channels such as Jia Le Channel, ETTV Asia, ETTV Yoyo and Jiangsu Satellite Channel.

All "live" streaming services and the SingTel Game On show will not be available to subscribers receiving EPL content on the StarHub platform.

Both mio TV and StarHub customers will be able to access an in-app "Football Portal" which will provide the latest EPL news, league table, match previews, team line-ups and other statistics, SingTel said.

Over the next few days, SingTel will go on a charm offensive with its existing subscribers, sending them personalised letters with "tailored special promotions".

Customers who upgrade to the Gold Pack - which retails for $64.90 or $69.90 - will get up to $20 off their monthly bill on top of mobile offers and upgrades.

In addition, the mio TV GO app's content subscription fee of $5 will be waived until May 2014.
