S.League: Thumbs up for football kaki app

SINGAPORE - Eye-catching and user friendly, with prizes to look forward to.

The New Paper's revamped Football Kaki Live for iOS and Android devices might have only been in stores for just over a day, but it is already garnering good reviews from users.

The inclusion of S.League coverage was a big plus point for die-hard Geylang International fan Basil Yeo.

"The app is a great way to access S.League news on the go, instead of having to search for it on a browser," said the 24-year-old managing director of film production company tokuAsia Pictures.

"I like the slick look and at the same time I can keep track of my favourite European team AC Milan in the Champions League."

Apart from news, Football Kaki Live will also provide live scores of ongoing S.League matches.

For chosen games, live commentary will be provided by TNP's stable of sports journalists.

Another big addition is the S.League Pick The Score contest, which will see users put their punting skills to the test for a weekly cash prize pot of $500, starting with tonight's season curtain-raiser between Tampines Rovers and Home United in the Great Eastern Charity Shield.

For guessing the correct full-time score of selected matches, five lucky winners will be chosen to receive $100 each every week.

The contest, which will see more than $15,000 up for grabs across the entire domestic season, is a major draw for graphic designer Taufiq Haris, who has been using Football Kaki for more than two years.

"The colours are nice and it is very easy to navigate to get to specific sections like the table and fixtures," said the 30-year-old Manchester United and LionsXII fan, who will support Hougang United this year.

"What I love most is the Pick The Score contest because there are prizes to be won."

Apart from the S.League, Football Kaki Live will also provide coverage for the English Premier League, Champions League and Malaysian Super League.

New features and leagues are also set to be added on top of the current version.

Tampines Rovers' tech-savvy goalkeeper Hyrulnizam Juma'at is happy to see more local football coverage with Football Kaki Live.

He said: "The S.League section on Football Kaki is good awareness for local football, instead of focusing on just the European leagues all the time.

"It's great for the fans too, as they can get hold of match results more easily and can look forward to winning attractive prizes for themselves."
