Small country with a big heart

Small country with a big heart

I, TOO, salute the Safsa Dragon Boat Team for the selfless sharing of their glory with the Singapore Paddle Club ("A generous act of true sportsmanship" by Mr Jeremy Taylor; Tuesday).

This was yet another example of how caring and willing to share Singaporeans can be.

This was also seen during the week of mourning over the death of former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew ("Grief, gratitude and how a nation grew closer together"; April 4).

We saw it again in the outpouring of support and concern when news broke of the deaths of Singapore pupils in the Sabah earthquake ("Hundreds stream into school to offer condolences"; Tuesday).

It is also not a surprise to read of how Singapore rescue teams are often sent to disaster areas to offer help.

We may be small, but the little we do will not go unnoticed in most cases.

So I say: Go, Singapore, and continue caring and sharing, and be known to the world as "the kind heart of Asia" with love and care for others in need.

All these make me proud to be a Singaporean.
